Dr. Tamara Soles and the This Hour has 50 Minutes continuing education program do not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, disability, religion, veteran status, sexual orientation, or age.

Dr. Tamara Soles is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists. Dr. Tamara Soles will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of Dr. Tamara Soles in consultation with the members of the Advisory Committee.

While Dr. Tamara Soles goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the program administrator which require intervention and/or action. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances.

When a participant, either orally or in written format, files a grievance and expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken.

  1. If the grievance concerns a speaker (other than Dr. Tamara Soles), the content presented by the speaker, or the style of presentation, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put his/her/their comments in written format. The CE Administrator (Dr. Tamara Soles) will then pass on the comments to the speaker, assuring the confidentiality of the grieved individual. The grievance will be reviewed and discussed between the CE Administrator and the speaker and appropriate action will be taken. If warranted the speaker’s course material will be immediately removed from the website for further review, revisions or permanent removal. The grieved individual will be notified in writing of the final determination. The grievance will be recorded and maintained for seven years.
  2. If the grievance concerns Dr. Tamara Soles, the content of her CE Program offering, or the style of her presentation, Dr. Elizabeth Foley, an advisory committee member, will be the designated person to handle said grievance. If additional support is needed, Dr. Foley will take the matter to the advisory board as a group, excluding Dr. Tamara Soles, to determine the best resolution. The individual filing the grievance will be asked to put his/her/their comments in written format. If necessary, an Advisory Committee meeting will be called in order to review the complaints and determine what recommendations will be made to address the grievance. If warranted the speaker’s course material will be immediately removed from the website for further review, revisions or permanent removal. The Committee may also recommend actions outlined below in 3 (a, b, and c). The grieved individual will be notified in writing of the final determination. The grievance will be recorded and maintained for seven years.
  3. If the grievance concerns a program offering, its content, level of presentation, or the technology related to the program activity offered, the CE Administrator will mediate and will be the final arbitrator. If the participant requests action, the CE Administrator will:
    a) attempt to move the participant to another program offering or
    b) provide a credit for a subsequent program or
    c) provide a partial or full refund of the program fee.

Actions 3b and 3c will require a written note, documenting the grievance, for record keeping purposes. The note need not be signed by the grieved individual.

  1. If the grievance concernsDr. Soles’ CE program, in a specific regard, the CE Administrator will engage Dr. Elizabeth Foley, advisory committee member, to arbitrate and will seek counsel from the Advisory Committee as needed.

Please contact Dr. Tamara Soles at info@thesecurechild.com to submit a complaint, or if you have additional questions.

As an APA-approved sponsor of continuing education, Dr. Tamara Soles is committed to the identification and resolution of potential conflicts of interest in the planning, promotion, delivery, and evaluation of continuing education. Consistent with concepts outlined in the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, potential conflicts of interest occur when an individual assumes a professional role in the planning, promotion, delivery, or evaluation of continuing education where personal, professional, legal, financial, or other interests could reasonably be expected to impair his, her, or their objectivity, competence, or effectiveness.

Potential Conflicts of Interest in the Planning of Continuing Education

Dr. Tamara Soles is responsible to identify, declare, and resolve any potential conflict of interest the Program may have in offering any specific program of continuing education. In the event of a potential conflict of interest, Dr. Soles will assume responsibility to resolve the potential conflict through the use of continual transparency including disclosure to the students. Dr. Tamara Soles may also confer with the Advisory Committee to determine whether the conflict of interest can be resolved or whether to remove that content or that instructor due to a conflict of interest that cannot be adequately resolved.

Dr. Tamara Soles requires that professionals participating in the planning of continuing education identify any potential conflict of interest they may have in the review, selection, development, delivery, or evaluation of that program and disclose the conflict or recuse themselves from any decision-making concerning that program. This is solicited in written format when the co-instructor agrees to the presentation and completes necessary information such as their credentials and biography. In the event of a potential conflict of interest, Dr. Tamara Soles will ensure that the individual recuses him or herself from the planning process.

Potential Conflicts of Interest in the Promotion of Continuing Education

When preparing promotional material for continuing education, Dr. Tamara Soles includes information concerning any financial support, including in-kind support, provided by another party. Dr. Tamara Soles also informs potential participants of any potential conflicts of interest an instructor. If there is no financial support or any potential conflict of interest or commercial support, Dr. Tamara Soles will ensure that is clearly stated in the promotional material. If information about financial support or any potential conflict of interest is not included in the promotional material prepared for continuing education, Dr. Tamara Soles will clearly indicate how a potential participant can secure that information. Policies all kinds are available for viewing on the course platform for each course activity and can be obtained via email, which will be indicated on all promotional material.

Potential Conflicts of Interest in the Delivery of Continuing Education

Dr. Tamara Soles requires that there is a process to clearly describe any financial support for a continuing education program at the time the continuing education program begins. Any other relationship that could be reasonably construed as a conflict of interest will also be disclosed. If there is no financial support or potential conflict of interest, Dr. Tamara Soles will ensure there is a process (e.g., a designated individual or a slide at the start of the presentation, documentation in materials) to clearly state any potential conflicts or absence of conflict at the time the continuing education program begins. One method that will be implemented is to have a disclosure statement that is written within each course activity platform online.
